After the long rain
Side by side fly the black birds
Two halves of my heart

– jennifer calderon –

Hiking is a favorite activity of my kids and me.  After a good Southern California rain (which is extremely rare), when the paths are soft and the air is cool and
fresh, is my favorite time to get out with the kids, especially my daughter.  As kids get older these moments can be so fleeting if we don’t schedule them out….

My daughter was diagnosed with ITP a year ago.  Her life is a little limited when it comes to certain activities due to her blood not being able
to clot properly if she is severely injured.  But hiking is something that she takes on with passion.  And I have to just breath and let her be free,
although its tough when I watch her climb and scale the hillside ridges.  I watch her and practice “letting go.”
Raven is clearly in her element with her brother Rook.  An un-posed smile as she watches him with Joonbug, our dog.  🙂  This path is where she finds her bliss.
Always and forever, I love you Rook + Raven, my black birds.

photogjenn@me.com - It really is hard. Knowing that a fall and blow to the head could be fatal, but holding her back. It’s a tough space each time she’s not with me…is she in a car in which the driver isn’t aware of her condition… It’s. Tough. But I can’t control it. I can only be present with her and love her every moment. Thank you!ReplyCancel
